Lakshmi: improved chances of survival 



A gruelling, 24-hour operation to remove the extra limbs of an Indian girl born with four arms and four legs was a spectacular success, doctors announced today. 



A team of more than 30 physicians removed the two-year-old's extra limbs, salvaged her organs, and rebuilt her pelvis area. 



Lakshmi, named after the Hindu goddess of wealth, is apparently now in a stable condition.
